MARIA DENT . I am needlewoman to Mr. George Scholey. The prisoner was his housemaid—I received a bundle from my mistress at the kitchen door—the prisoner was then gone up stairs—I believe my mistress got the bundle out of the carriage—I examined the bundle—it contained a bedquilt, a round towel, some pieces of soap, and other things—they were my master's, Mr. George Scholey.

Cross-examined by MR. BALLANTINE. Q. What do you know this counterpane by? A. Two small holes in it—it is rather old—there is no particular shape about these holes—I can identify this round towel—she said she was very sorry.

COURT. Q. Was she charged with stealing these things? A. Yes, and she said she was very sorry, she could not tell what made her do it.

GUILTY . Aged 40.— Confined Three Months .
