FREDERICK AUGUSTUS STAPLETON, Theft > simple larceny, 17th October 1833.

1520. FREDERICK AUGUSTUS STAPLETON was indicted for stealing, on the 1st of October , 1 pair of boots, value 12s. , the goods of Nicholas Morritt .

CHARLES WALTER . I am in the service of Mr. NicholasMorritt; he is a pawnbroker . On the 1st of October, these boots were hanging with some other boots and shoes at his door - I saw the prisoner come into the shop, take these boots, and walk out with them under his arm - I followed him about forty yards, and took him with them - he said, he was distressed.

WILLIAM HORSFORD (police-sergeant D 6). I took the prisoner; I found nothing on him but a duplicate of a pair of shoes and a knife - he said he did it for want.

GUILTY . Aged 25 - Confined Fourteen Days .
