John Simons, Theft > pocketpicking, 15th January 1703.

John Simons , of the Parish of St. Peters Cornhil , was indicted for Picking the Pocket of Thomas Butcher , on the 11th of January last, of a silk Handkerchief . The Prosecutor deposed, That he was upon the Exchange, discoursing with a Captain, and in the mean time had his Pocket pickt. Some time after, he heard that the Prisoner was taken with some Handkerchiefs and being search'd, found it upon him. He denied the Fact, saying, he had none of it, but that not availing him, the Jury found him guilty to the value of 10 d.
