The prisoner came to my shop on the 10th of Oct. last, about half-past twelve o'clock in the day—she asked for some pieces that laid on the board, which came to 4 1/2
<hi rend="italic">d</hi>.—she paid me a shilling—in taking her hand out of her pocket she dropped a shilling, which I suspected to be bad, as it laid on the ground—she put her foot over it, and gave me another one—I looked at it—it was bad, and I purposely dropped it, in order to get the other—I said, "Stand on one side, I have dropped the shilling"—I pushed her foot on one side, and got possession of the two—I examined the other, and that was also bad—I sent for a policeman, and gave her into custody with both the shillings—the prisoner said she was a poor hard-working woman, and that her husband worked in the stone-yard.</p>
