2224. ELIZABETH JONES was indicted for stealing, on the 14th of August, 1 shawl, value 10s., the goods of George Liddimore.
MARY LIDDIMORE . I am the wife of George Liddimore; we live in Old Gravel-lane. The prisoner lodged with me—I went out and came home on the 14th of August—the prisoner left my house that evening—I missed my shawl—I spoke to her about it—she told me where she had pawned it, and I found it there.
Cross-examined by MR. BALLANTINE. Q. I believe her husband is your own brother? A. Yes—I gave her in charge through my husband—I believe she would have redeemed it—she was in distress.
NOT GUILTY .
