645. JOHN WARD was indicted for that he, on the 27th of February , 6lbs. of leaden pipe, value 3s., belonging to Thomas Cubit , and fixed to a certain building, feloniously did rip, with intent to steal .

JOHN GEAR . I am a carpenter. On the 27th of February, about seven o'clock in the evening, I saw the prisoner come into the premises of the London Institution, Moorfields ; he took hold of the pipe, and began to pull it out of the ground - I secured him before he had time to separate it.

NOT GUILTY .
