John Corbet of the Parish of St. Faith's , was Indicted for assaulting James Shippard , Esq , upon the Queen's High-way, and violently taking from him a Peruke, value 5 l. and a Hat 5 s. the Goods of the said James Shippard , on the 3d of June last. It appear'd, that the Prosecutor going in the Evening by the Chapter-house in St. Paul's Church yard , the Prisoner came behind him, and suddenly snatch'd off his Hat and Wig, and run down Paul's Alley with it. He being pursu'd, threw them from him, but was immediately taken. The Prosecutor's Eye being upon him all the time. The Fact being plainly prov'd, and the Prisoner making a frivolous Defence, the Jury found him Guilty of the Indictment.
