Mary Hughes alias Mason , of St. Bartholomew-Exchange , was indicted for feloniously stealing one Silk Gown value 7 l. two Silk Petticoats, one Silver Hasted Knife and Fork 5 s. one Silk Scarf 40 s. the Goods of Samuel Staples , on the 29th of March last; it appear'd, that the Prisoner was Servant to Mrs. Ludloe, and had lived with her about Three Months, and that the Prisoner went away the Day the Robbery was committed; the Prosecutor said, that he never had seen her but once since, and that was in Newgate; the Prisoner in Defence denied that she had ever seen the Prosecutor, and the Evidence not being clear, she was acquitted .
