Alice Jones , of the Parish of St. Martins in the Fields , was Indicted for privately Stealing 40 Yards of Muslin, value 40 l. the Goods of Martha Bushel , on the 10th of September last. The Evidence depos'd, That the Prisoner was at the Prosecutor's Shop to buy Ribbon, that she sent the Prosecutor's Daughter to a Customer hard by, as she pretended, to treat for some Heads with her, and while the was gone, the Prisoner made use of that Opportunity to take the Goods; but being discovered and apprehended, the Goods were found upon her. The Jury found her Guilty of Felony.
