James Roberts , Jane Smith , Alice Jones , were all three Indicted for a Misdemeanour, in Cheating Joseph Swallow and his Wife of 8 l. pretending to leave as a Pledge of Bone Lace, a quantity of Muslen and Holland Cloth, when in reallity it was nothing but old rags, Bed Matting and Sand , but the Evidence not reaching the Indictment. The Jury acquitted them.
