Joseph Highway and John Anderson , of St. Mary White-Chappel , were Indicted for stealing from Sampson Salt , on the 30th of June , 300 pound weight of Hops . It appeared, that there being a hole in the Cellar or Warehouse under ground, the Prisoners at several times went in, and brought out what they were able to carry off, and sold them for 3 d. a pound. One Evidence deposed, he was in the Gang with the Prisoners, when the Goods were taken, but said they did it for want: another deposed, that lodging at the same house with the Prisoners, he heard them say they were all concerned in stealing the Goods; and it also appeared, that when seized they confest the fact; and having little to say, the Jury brought them in guilty to the value of 10 d.
