Ann Devine, alias Whitaker , of the Parish of Stepney , was Indicted of High-Treason upon two Indictments, the first for Clipping , and the other for Coining on the first of January , in the Sixth Year of His Majesty's Reign. The Evidence depos'd, that she took a House for Mr. Unitt at Cock-hill by Ratcliff , did Clip several parcels of money, and helpt him to Coin at other times. The Prisoner utterly denied the Fact, averring she did never Clip nor Coin in all her life. She called abundance of people to her Reputation, who declared she had always been an industrious Woman to get her Livelihood. The Jury found her not guilty .
