  Henry Tilson of the Parish of  St. Leonard Shoreditch , was indicted of High Treason, for Clipping the currant and lawful Coin of this Kingdom , on the 22th of May last. It appeared by the Evidence, that he had seen him Clip above 1000 l. at several times, and that he did allow him 6 d. in the pound for Clipping it; and that he did Clip in a middle room in  Garden-Allies by Clerkenwell , and that afterwards the Clippings were carried up Stairs, and melted. The Prisoner denied the Fact, and said that he did know nothing of it, he being a Weaver by his Trade. He called divers People to his Reputation, who said, that they never knew any harm by him; The Jury considering the matter, found him not Guilty .
