C - J was tryed for stealing 29 yards of stript Silk, value 7 l. and 11 yards of other stript Silk, value 5 s. 8 d. on the day of October last, the Goods of William Waller , who d, that he lost the Silk out of his Shop at Ludgate-hill , and afterwards it was sold to one Mr. Malley in Southwark, where it was found and owned by the Prosecutor to be his Silk; the Prisoner said, that he bought the Silk of a Woman, near Tower-hill but could not prove it so he was found Guilty .
