Description: Lists of prisoners kept on specific hulks, organised according to the prison or hulk they were received from. Information is provided about their age, offence, when and where convicted, sentence, marital status, when and where discharged, and a gaoler's report on their character. Later lists include information on place of birth, trade or profession, whether able to read and write, appearance (hair, eyes, eyebrows and lashes, nose, mouth, complexion, visage, make, height, and descriptions of scars, tattoos etc.) and last address. Separate volumes provide indexes according to the first letter of surname but not strictly alphabetically.
