1497. THOMAS GALLOWAY was indicted for stealing, on the 20th of July , four loaves of bread, value 1 s. 9 d. , the goods of James Tibby .

WILLIAM GOMM. I am in the employ of Mr. James Tibby, a baker , who lives in Robert-street. On the 20th of July I left a basket of bread in Doughty-street ,

while I went into Henry-street - as I returned, I met the prisoner with another about the end of Doughty-street, with four loaves under his arm - I took the prisoner, the other ran away - I am sure the loaves were my master's.

JOSEPH CADBY . I received charge of the prisoner and bread - he gave no account of it then, but before the Magistrate, he said, he was very hungry.

Prisoner's Defence. I met a man with these loaves, who asked me to carry them for him - he ran away and the man took me.

GUILTY . Aged 17.

Confined Fourteen Days .
