There was no Evidence that saw the Prisoners take the Boat from the place where it was lost, or the Sculls; and the Prisoners alledging their Innocence, saying that they had been drinking at the five Bells in Wood-street with a Friend, and staying late, they came to

The Evidence deposed that the Prisoner came into the Shop, pretending to buy some Ribbon, and took her Gloves, and put them cross her Arms, and leant on the Counter, and took up the Goods, and then went to the Door, and afterwards turned back, and held him in discourse, whilst she got another, and went backwards and forwards three several times, and every time took something, and at last went her ways; but he let her go out of the Shop, and then took her with the Goods upon her; she did not deny the Fact, saying, that she was in Drink and did not know what she did. The Jury found her

She denied the Fact, saying she knew nothing of it, but could not call any to her Reputation. The Jury found her

The first Evidence deposed that he had an occasion to go to a Gentlemans Chamber in the Temple, and did mistake the Stair-Case, and going up four pair of Stairs he saw a hole broke at three pair of Stairs, and looking saw a Woman peep, but did not see her Face, and mistrusting her to be a Thief, he went down Stairs, and spoke to a Gentleman in the lower Room, desiring him to stop her if she should come down whilst he went to call the Porter, and in the mean time the Prisoner came down one pair of Stairs, where she was taken; upon which they went up Stairs, and looking in the hole found some Chissels; but opening the Door found several Trunks and Boxes broke open, and the Goods pack'd up ready to be carried away. The Prisoner denied the Fact, saying, she come to enquire for her Counsellor, and was told he lived in that Stair-Case; she went up Stairs and was taken when she came down: All which Matters the Jury having considered, found her

The first Evidence was the Chaplain of the Fleet, who deposed, that he did marry one Simon Johnson and Susanna Cornwell, and did believe that the Prisoner was the Man; and the Clerk deposed the same. As to the second Marriage, the Prisoner confest the same, saying he would live and die with her; but denied the first Wife, altho' he had owned before that he was married to her; but she having some mistrust that he was going to be married to a second Wife followed him to Knights-bridge in a Coach, where he was married a second time before she came; and the Prisoner looking out of a Window and seeing his first Wife, ran away into Hyde Park, leaving his Hat behind him, never coming near his last Wife after. Another Evidence was the Minister of Knightsbridge, who deposed that the Prisoner and the last Wife came the 23d of September, about eight a Clock in the Morning, with a Licence, upon which he married them. Another Evidence was the Clerk, who deposed that after they were married he earnestly desired him to keep the matter secret. Another Evidence deposed that she heard the Prisoner own when he was in Custody, that he had two Wives, and that the first Wife told her she was with Child by him, and where they were married. Another Evidence deposed, that when he was going to Newgate he did confess that he had two Wives. The Prisoner for himself said, that he was not married to his first Wife. But both Marriages being so plainly proved, the Jury found him
